ARTIST: Candi Redd
ALBUM: Is Jesus Black?
RELEASE: June 26, 2011
This will be one of the most highly anticipated, informative yet, controversial projects to hit the streets this summer and maybe to ever hit the streets from a young southern female rapper. This is definitely not the typical female rap that you hear, better yet, it’s not the typical rap that you hear from the south period. I asked Candi Redd what led her to believe that Jesus was black? She said to me, “Because Christianity was a man made religon designed with the agenda to keep people of color under subjectation and opression. They have been successful thus far. Christianity was founded in Rome. Christianity was founded by Paul. If I ask many Christians who Paul is, they will tell me an apostle. He was a self appointed apostle. He was not made a disciple by Jesus nor by the original 12 disciples. He did not take the place of Judah either because the disciples replaced Judah with Matthias, for he was there to actually bare witness and walk with Christ. You ask the question WWJD? You tell me. Jesus himself was not a Christian. Christianity was adopted 365 years after his death when Constantine became emperor of Rome. They learned what it was that Jesus was teaching, mixed it with beliefs, and pagan rituals, changed the images and began to teach this doctrine. It is because of Christianity that people of color do not know they’re roll in history. They have failed to mention most of the women in the bible. They tell you that they begat daughters and never mention their names. Women don’t know what black beauty is. They hate the texture of their hair and say they will have babies with puerto ricans so that they baby can have good hair lol. Don’t we? We get perms and sew in weave so that we can look European. We teach our sons that they must not wear dreads or braids to find a job because it looks unprofessional. So, our natural look is unprofessional, right? We don’t desire to think this way, we have been taught this because we are raised in America where white standards of beauty are being imposed upon us everyday. It is also important to know that the Romans are the one who killed Jesus. You think they would kill the Messiah and then teach you the truth? Lol We really need to wake up…”
She and I had a very long conversation on this topic and she definitely has me convinced. After hearing a song like, “Independent,” I never would have assumed that she was this educated. I mean we discussed a lot of things that you typically cannot discuss with a young rapper. We talked politics, economics, religion and revelations about where we are today in the word of God. She has very interesting points and can show you a substantial fact each time to support her logic. I believe that many people will be very impressed with this project no matter if you are white, black, latino, asian, indian, etc.
